Go Links

Smarter link aliases

Aliases can include slashes, carry deep links, and resolve more predictably.

Aliases give a single go-link more than one name. This release makes them more capable.

New

  • Slashes in aliases — an alias can mirror a path: add docs/api/v2 and go/docs/api/v2 resolves to your link.
  • Deep-link aliases — an alias on a variable link passes the path through too: alias tix on a go/jira (…/%s) link makes go/tix/PROJ-1234 work. Wildcard {*} and positional %1s/%2s links work via aliases as well.

Improved

  • More predictable redirects — the most specific match wins: an exact link or alias beats a pattern, and the longest matching path wins.
  • Aliases are normalized consistently on create and CSV import, so Docs/API, docs/api, and docs//api are the same alias.

Note

  • A non-variable link with extra path (e.g. go/wiki/some/page when wiki isn't a variable link) now shows the create/search page instead of dropping the extra part — use a variable link (%s or {*}) for pass-through.

Link editor fixes

The edit shortcut is back, and saving links is reliable again.

Fixed

  • Edit shortcut — the "Link added. Edit at …" confirmation is a clickable link again (it had become plain text).
  • Repeat saves — fixed a "CSRF token is missing or not valid" error when saving, going Back, and saving again; the form now reloads fresh.
  • Older links — resolved rare save and edit failures affecting some older links.
Go Links

More forgiving link names

Capitalization, hyphens, and dots no longer matter when resolving a link.

Improved

  • Forgiving names — links match case-insensitively and ignore hyphens and dots, so My-Link, mylink, and my.link all resolve to the same place (your readable display name is kept).

Fixed

  • Older links with dashes or dots in their names (e.g. autobot-demo-dev2) now resolve, edit, and substitute reliably.
Go Links

Public link controls and suggestions

Control public sharing, pause public access, and get "did you mean?" suggestions.

New

  • "Did you mean?" suggestions — following a go/... link that doesn't exist now suggests similar names instead of a dead end.
  • Pause public access — require sign-in for all public links org-wide until you re-enable them.

Improved

  • Public links show a brief "Powered by Goto Tools" page before redirecting; Business and Enterprise plans can turn it off for a direct redirect.
Go Links

Search and autocomplete

Find links fast, even without the exact name.

New

  • Link search — type part of a name to see matching links across your org, ranked by relevance.
  • Fuzzy matching — typos and partial words still find the right link (e.g. "dep" surfaces deploy and dependencies).
  • Autocomplete — suggestions appear as you type.
Go Links

Positional variable links

Capture the full path and reorder segments in variable links.

Variable go-links can now do more than pass the path straight through.

New

  • Full-path capture%s (or **{*}) drops the entire remaining path into your destination, so deep paths like go/jira/PROJ-1234** pass through intact.
  • Positional variables%1s and %2s insert the first and second path segments in any order. Destination https://company.com/%2s/%1s plus go/report/sales/2025 gives https://company.com/2025/sales.
Go Links

Branded public link URLs

Public links now show your vanity-domain URL.

Improved

  • Branded public URLs — sharing or copying a public link now builds the URL from your vanity domain instead of a generic host.
  • Refreshed plans and pricing on the public website.
Go Links

Self-service billing and plans

Choose a plan, pay, and manage your subscription yourself.

New

  • Self-service plans — Starter, Business, and Enterprise (monthly or yearly), with checkout and upgrades from your org settings.
  • Billing portal — update payment methods, view invoices, and change your subscription without contacting us.
  • CSV export — export your organization's links to CSV anytime (bulk import arrived earlier).

Improved

  • After you save a link, a shortcut takes you straight to its edit page.
Go Links

European region and faster redirects

A dedicated EU deployment with data residency, on a faster auto-scaling backend.

New

  • European region — EU organizations' links and analytics stay in Europe (not copied elsewhere), with one shared sign-in.

Improved

  • Faster redirects — a new auto-scaling backend keeps go/ redirects fast under load.
  • Public link pages now serve a proper favicon.
Go Links

Multiple vanity domains

Run more than one branded go-link domain per organization.

New

  • Multiple vanity domains — point several hostnames at one org (go.company.com and go.company.ai both resolve), and pick one as the primary used for shared URLs.
  • Public reference name — set the organization name shown on public links.
Go Links

Variable links and QR codes

Parameterized go-links, plus a QR code for every link.

New

  • Variable go-links — one link can pass the rest of the path to its destination: set up go/jira once and go/jira/PROJ-1234 opens that ticket.
  • QR codes — every link has a scannable QR code (icon in your link list) for slides, flyers, and walls.

Improved

  • Favicons now appear in your link list.
Go Links

Slack, vanity domains, and bulk import

Go-links in Slack, your own domain, and importing links in bulk.

New

  • Slack appgo/ links posted in Slack turn into clickable hyperlinks automatically, and the bot replies in-thread.
  • Vanity domains — reach links on a domain you own, like go.company.com; sign-in and resolution work there too.
  • Bulk import — upload many links at once and confirm them before they go live.
Go Links

Browser search and a refreshed app

Add go/ as a browser search engine, on a redesigned app.

New

  • go/ as a browser search engine — register the built-in OpenSearch provider to reach links from the address bar (or jump to the app to create one); the extension can open results in a new tab.

Improved

  • Redesigned app — cleaner link list, create/edit screens, and org settings, with clearer page titles and the current page highlighted.
  • Org-scoped controls — admin and link-owner permissions, and the new-org flow, are now scoped to your domain.
Go Links

Chrome extension on the Web Store

Install the extension in a couple of clicks, with a friendly first run.

New

  • Chrome Web Store release — install the extension in a couple of clicks, no manual setup.
  • Welcome flow — a first-run page shows you how to start using go/ links right away.

Improved

  • The extension detects your organization automatically — nothing to configure.
Go Links

Goto Tools is here

Short, memorable go-links for your team — create, share, and resolve them from any browser.

Goto Tools launches. Give any URL a short name and reach it by typing go/... in your browser.

  • Create go-links — name a destination once (go/payroll, go/roadmap); the whole team can use it, and you can edit it anytime.
  • Team organizations — sign in with your work Google account and everyone on your email domain shares one set of links.
  • Chrome extension — resolves go/ from the address bar, with no per-link setup.
  • Safe by default — destinations are checked against Google Web Risk when saved.
  • Free to start — sign up, verify your domain, and start sharing the same day.
